A blogging rant

I created this blog because 1) I was bored one day in Summer 2014, 2) I wanted my own space for my own thoughts and 3) to let go of the negativity I had in my life. So far, these [almost 3] blogging years has made me realise a few things.

I am a kick ass person, I've gained so much confidence, met sooooo many amazing people and found myself. However, there is something about blogging I honestly cannot stand and this is where this post comes into play.

So here is 'A blogging rant'...

Before I begin with my little (huge) rant, I am not going to name names, because this isn't personal, and this isn't about one particular incident. This is what I have been seeing since I started using twitter again a couple of years ago and just decided to write my thoughts down.

When I first started blogging all those many moons ago, it was such a relief to express all things I love and all things that were holding me back, whilst turning them into a positive. Since becoming more active on Twitter, the main focus of todays post, I have talked to sooooooooooooooooooo many lovely bloggers who have the same interests as me and I've read some fabulous blog posts.

However, Twitter is also a place where other bloggers can be hurtful towards other ones. There have been plenty of blogging dramas happening on the popular social media network and it really confuses me when I see things like this happen. Don't get me wrong, if I feel like something has to be said then I will say something, but I would do it privately if possible and not so public. Obviously, all situations differ and some do call for a more upfront approach but it really makes me sad to see things like this happen, especially when we should be supporting each other and not tearing each other down.

Blogging is a community, not a competition.

Another thing that gets to me a bit is how some bloggers only talk to a selection of other bloggers. But more popular ones or have a higher follower number.
And it isn't just me who has noticed this, some other bloggers have too! I get that people don't have enough time to reply to everyone who tweets them or whatnot but when you see the bloggers replying to certain bloggers and carry on with the conversation and others they don't, its a bit weird. Fair enough if it is an one tweet reply but I dunno, it bugs me slightly.
I, amongst sooooo many others, do try to reply to all tweets I get and don't pick certain ones to reply to, I like to make conversations with people. That's just me though, I like talking to people and reading their opinions etc.

The last thing about twitter and bloggers is something that probably bugs us all.
Automated DMs.
These are the bane of my life, like I don't open them, I don't read them, they are getting deleted straight away.
It's a no from me.

Anyway, if I continue with this, you will be reading this post alllllll day so I will stop there!
But please don't take me rant to heart! Like I said at the start, this isn't personal, it isn't aimed at one incident/blogger and there are sooooooooooo many positives to Twitter than negatives if you are a blogger!

Well there you have it, that's me rant done and dusted!
Until next time

  1. I quite like reading posts like this. As you say, there are a lot of positives in the blogging community but there are some negatives that just seem to be left unsaid! I completely agree with you here. Again, it's not everyone and the majority of people that I've spoken to have been lovely but it's the minority that can let us down. I'm glad someone said it! I feel ya.

    1. Me too, it makes me realise that I'm not the only one who thinks this! And I just felt like something had to be said because it isn't everyone but it honestly just ruins the whole blogging experience when things do happen! x
